English version

AVA Dance Company. From the artistic creation to the expressive gesture.

The AVA Dance Company was founded in 2008 by Avat^ara Ayuso, a Spanish dancer and choreographer, whose intent was to create a real lab where she could realize qualities productions from her artistic ideas, with the support of the different dancing styles.

To reach every kind of audience, and as many people as possible, the company works with the idea of innovation, of fusion between arts by pushing the physical movement beyond the limits, improving the artistic and intellectual ability of the dancers, besides their bodies’ strength.

The final goal is the artistic excellence, reached by the AVA Dance Company through a conceptual analysis of the movement and its elements until getting a full, almost visceral, expressive body gesture.

Avat^ara Ayuso studied at the Conservatorio Profesional de Danza de Mallorca, then she decided to move to London to improve her technique; she got the Certificate in Higher Education from the prestigious London Contemporary Dance School in 2004. The year later she joined the D.A.N.C.E. programme which gave her the chance to work under the artistic direction of William Forsythe, Wayne McGregor, Frédéric Flamand and Angelin Preljocaj. In 2008 she obtained the Master Klass in Professional Dance at the Palucca Schule Dresden, shortly before founding the AVA Dance Company.

“Coreographic signature” is how Avat^ara calls the way to link dancers’ physicality to her artistic ideas, listening to their needs of movement in the space; because of that, she wants dancers who prove to know their bodies and to be able to guide them into the choreographic search. During the creative moment of a production, Avat^ara needs dancers’ artistic contribute that ends up into the choreography, which is the result of an integration of everyone’s ideas and experiences.

At the beginning of September, Avat^ara has decided that it is time to become known internationally, starting with showing her works in London by creating a new production called Provisional Landscape, an opportunity for the audience to get in touch with the artistic soul of Avat^ara. The show includes four moments: Tokyo Tokyo, a movie directed by Avat^ara herself, OneSquareMeter, a very physical intense duet, Balikbayan, a solo, and Foreign Bodies, where four dancers explore the limits of their bodies. The premiere of the show will be at the Lilian Baylis Studio Theatre in London, on the 24th and the 25th of November.

The way the company chose to announce the show is pretty in at the moment; it is about “crowdfunding”, which is a process to raise money from public donations made to support a project, and it can be started directly online.

The company has started few days ago the campaign “It is time to introduce AVA Dance Company to the world” and it will end on the 5th of October, with the intent to raise money to get the entire budget required for the London’s show. Avat^ara said: «You should support us because we want to present a high quality performance because we believe in treating artists fairly and in safe working conditions, because dance can stimulate our life experience, and help us to connect differently with the world around us».

The project is ambitious; Avat^ara wants to be heard, to enhance the artistic experiences of her company, getting it to a next higher level of professionalism, without forgetting the importance of audience’s support. She wants to share in it the great passion which her and the entire company feel for the art of dancing.
